Went to see "Watchmen" on Saturday night.

What an awesome film. Comparable with, perhaps even beyond "The Matrix" for its visual appeal, fights, and exploration of existential issues.

Great costumes, effects, attention to detail, philosphy, ethics. It's 2 hrs 42 mins long, but I didn't look for the time once. It is violent and somewhat disturbing in the context of the potential awfulness of humanity which it explores (including a near rape scene).

Absolutely superb and mind expanding. I haven't felt such a mental rush after a film since seeing The Matrix. One to think about again and again. Once I've read up some more on the characters and the thought behind it, I think a repeat viewing may be in order.

There's a good soundtrack too (80s, 60s, and the incidental music), and as a fan of hair, one of the principal lady characters has awe inspiring between breast and waist length hair which remains perfect even during 'Matrix' style fight scenes!

Science Fiction at its best, working visually, intelligently. Super.
